Job Title: Physical Security Specialist
Supervisor: Physical Security Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
Work Schedule: Full time; Monday-Thursday (4-10’s)
POSITION SUMMARY
Monitors project activities associated with security operations to assure physical protection requirements for classified material, special nuclear material, government property, and personnel are adequately protected. Manages the Physical Security Program and coordinates various programs in support of the site security activities using discretion and independent judgement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Develops and implements physical security policies and procedures
- Coordinates and implements physical protection measures for classified material and special nuclear material
- Serves as a certified inquiry official in support of the Incident of Security Concern program on site
- Develops and provides input to the Site Security plan and other specific security plans and procedures, and conducts testing in support of the Performance Assurance Program. Performs field inspections to ensure compliance with DOE Orders and manuals
- Performs all physical security self-assessments assigned
- Assists with maintaining the site access controls applicable for each designated security area, to include access control equipment, escort requirements, Physical Access Control System, and response to system failures.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- No direct supervision is required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND KEY COMPETENCIES
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of three years security experience
- Experience with Microsoft Suite software such as Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Experience in security at DOE site is preferred
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy “Q” security clearance
TRAINING, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Must be a citizen of the United States and authorized to work in the US
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a government vehicle
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to meet the physical capacity requirements of this position as determined by the Occupational Medical Provider
- Able to wear company-provided personal protection equipment if/when required
