Job Description

Total-Western, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Tank Cleaner to join our team. The Tank Cleaner will be responsible for the thorough cleaning and maintenance of industrial storage tanks and vessels, ensuring compliance with safety standards and operational requirements. Key Responsibilities

Tank Cleaning Operations:

  • Perform cleaning of industrial storage tanks, including removing sludge, deposits, and contaminants.
  • Utilize specialized equipment and techniques to clean tanks in compliance with industry standards and company procedures.
  • Ensure thorough inspection of tanks post-cleaning to verify cleanliness and readiness for use.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and confined space entry procedures.
  • Conduct safety checks and risk assessments before and during tank cleaning operations to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Report any safety concerns or incidents promptly to supervisors.

Equipment Handling and Maintenance:

  • Operate and maintain cleaning equipment such as high-pressure washers, vacuum trucks, and pumping systems.
  • Ensure equipment is in good working condition, performing routine checks and maintenance as needed.
  • Assist in the setup and dismantling of equipment at job sites.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of cleaning activities, including work performed, equipment used, and any issues encountered.
  • Provide detailed reports on tank conditions and cleaning outcomes to supervisors.
  • Document and report any discrepancies or defects in tank structures.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other team members and supervisors to coordinate cleaning activities and ensure efficient workflow.
  • Assist in training new employees in tank cleaning procedures and safety practices.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement discussions.

Waste Management:

  • Properly handle and dispose of waste materials generated during tank cleaning, following environmental regulations and company policies.
  • Segregate and label hazardous and non-hazardous waste appropriately.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in industrial cleaning or a similar field. Experience with tank cleaning is preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with industrial cleaning equipment and techniques. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and safety guidelines.
  • Safety Knowledge: Strong understanding of safety practices related to industrial cleaning, including confined space entry, hazardous materials handling, and PPE usage.
  • Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and working in confined spaces.
  • Communication Skills: Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Licensing: Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various job sites as required.

Preferred Experience

  • Industry Experience: Experience in the oil and gas, power generation, or manufacturing industries.
  • Certifications: Confined Space Entry Certification and HAZWOPER (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response) certification.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating vacuum trucks and high-pressure cleaning systems.

Reporting Structure

Compensation
