Drill Operator

As a drill operator you are responsible for operating and maintaining drilling equipment to bore holes for various utility installations such as water, gas, or electrical lines. You will ensure that drilling operations are conducted efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Additionally, you will coordinate with team members and perform routine inspections and minor repairs on the equipment to maintain operational integrity.

What Do You Offer Us:

  • Assemble and position machines, augers, and casing pipes.
  • Verify depth and level of positions.
  • Retract augers to force discharge dirt from holes.
  • Start, stop, and control drilling speed of machines and insertion of casings into holes.
  • Signal crane operators to move equipment.
  • Monitor drilling operations and strata being drilled to determine the need to adjust drilling or insert casings into holes.
  • Read instructions and diagrams.
  • Operate drilling equipment to bore holes for various utility installations (such as water, gas, or electrical lines).
  • Ensure equipment is properly maintained and operated according to safety regulations.
  • Interpret blueprints and job specifications to determine drilling requirements.
  • Monitor drilling operations to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
  • Coordinate with team members to ensure site safety and productivity.
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on drilling equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform minor repairs as needed.
  • Maintain records of drilling activities, including depth and location of drilled holes.
  • Follow environmental regulations and guidelines during drilling operations.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in construction are a plus.
  • Must hold a valid Driver’s License.
  • Class A or B CDL.
  • Drilling experience (10x15, 24x40, JT10, JT20)
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods, with repeated lifting (up to 50 lbs.), kneeling, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
  • In-depth knowledge of utility construction methods, proper use of tools and materials, and safety practices.
  • Ability to operate equipment, including, but not limited to directional drills, locating systems, trencher, backhoe, excavators, etc.
  • Proficient in computer skills and ability to use various software.
