SUMMARY:

Azurite Professional Community is recruiting for a Health, Safety & Environment Technician (HSE). The position is located in our Albuquerque, NM office. The HSE Technician assists the Azurite Corporate Manager in ensuring HSE compliance as outlined by federal, state, and local agencies and as contractually required. Assignments typically include a mixture of field and office duties, working on teams and independently. New and varied assignments may be made frequently requiring flexibility in travel, self- directed learning skills and heightened social interaction. Field assignments can be frequent, and duration can extend beyond one week.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reports to the Azurite Corporate H&S Manager.
  • Monitors, evaluates, and enforces the HSE programs for all the pillar companies.
  • Conducts routine safety inspections and surveillances; ensures discrepancies are corrected.
  • Performs Competent Person duties (Fall Protection, Excavations, Confined Space, etc.).
  • Maintains administrative files as required by the HSE Manual, HSE permits and other requirements.
  • Completes accident/incident/illness investigations and reports to the Corporate H&S Manager.
  • Provides training as necessary to meet the requirements of regulatory agencies, the HSE Manual and to ensure the ongoing education and safety of employees.
  • Maintains safety training records.
  • Maintains and issues PPE inventory.
  • Conducts Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) to ensure employees take required precautionary measures.
  • Prepares Site Specific Health & Safety Plans.
  • Maintains HAZ/Non-HAZ waste site(s) and materials.
  • Assists in performance of tasks related to environmental compliance per management, state, and/or federal laws, rules, and/or regulations.
  • Complete and submit expense reports in a timely manner.
  • Ability to effectively operate office equipment, to include desktop computers, calculators, printers, copy machines and telephones.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • An Associate’s Degree in Environmental Sciences or Occupational Safety & Health preferable, or a High School education with a minimum of 5 years of safety/environmental experience in the general/construction industry required.
  • Competent Person Certification experience preferred (Fall Protection, Excavations, Confined Space, etc.).
  • OSHA 30-hour, construction, or general industry certification.
  • OSHA 510 / 511 certification preferred.
  • HAZWOPER 40-hour certification preferred.
  • First Aid / CPR Instructor certification preferred.
  • Valid Driver's license and able to pass the drug test.

Salary Grade $24.00 - $42.00 Per Hour

Travel 50%
