Aquatics & Wellness Coordinator
Full-time, Non-Exempt
Pay Range: $19.36/hr - $23.34/hr DOQ
Performs specialized work assisting program supervisor with activities at the city pool, a designated community center, parks, partnership locations, and other recreational facility. Assists with the development of aquatic and wellness programs. Promotes good relationships with neighborhood and activity groups. May supervise one or more part time staff during operations of programs. Must exercise considerable independence and self-motivation. The employee is also responsible for assisting in the development of program quality and guidelines for Recreation Programs. This role will also include high level administrative duties, marketing, and branding of aquatics, wellness, and senior programming.
Essential Duties
- Assists Recreational Staff in the development of youth and adult aquatic and wellness programs, activities and events. This includes swim lessons, private swim lessons, swim team, senior programming and various wellness programs.
- Assist with maintaining proper ratios of staff to children while operating programs.
- Key staff for developing swim lessons and swim teams.
- Assist in the coordination of new programming based around aquatics and wellness.
- Assist in creating schedules for aquatic & wellness classes, programs, and staff.
- Develop, plan, promote and administer swim team program.
- Assist in coordination and growth of the Senior Club.
- Develop, design and implement revenue generating programs.
- Assist in implementation and coordination of required in-service training.
- Nurture children by designing lesson plans that include purposeful programming that develops social-emotional skills, fosters achievement, supports academic growth and provides enrichment.
- Create daily schedule of instructional activities for staff to follow.
- Assist in ensuring the safety and maintenance of high quality facilities, grounds, and equipment including keeping supplies organized, maintain and clean facility and care for equipment.
- Assist with maintaining a high standard of operation of the city pool to include clean facility and a properly balanced and maintained pool.
- Helps plan and teach continued training and in-service to staff.
- Manages administrative duties and assists in the branding and marketing of the aquatics, wellness, and senior programming of the City.
- Maintains order, discipline and safety.
- Collects and records pool admissions.
- Driving of City Vehicles (A valid Florida Driver’s License is required )
- Performs related functions as assigned.
Qualifications
- C.P.R./ AED and First Aid Certification required.
- Water Safety Instructor’s Certificate desirable.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Two years experience in the development and implementation of recreation programs.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
- General knowledge of various recreational programs and activities required.
- Must have knowledge of the behavior of children of a variety of age levels.
- Ability to deal with the general public of all ages tactfully and effectively.
- Must be physically able to participate in youth programming.
- Ability to develop positive interest in recreational activities necessary.
- Willing to work evenings and weekends.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License required.
- Complete the required National Incident Management System (NIMS) training within 6 months of completion of probationary period.
Works in an indoor and outdoor environment and is subject to sun, heat, humidity, rain, cold, and inclement weather. Works during daytime, nighttime, and weekend hours.
