Position Summary
The Insurance Claims Coordinator and Safety Liaison performs a variety of claims-related functions within the Corporate Administration team and Safety department. This position will coordinate, track, and monitor all insurance claims and losses and work with the legal team towards resolution of those claims within the Company’s insurance program. Coordination of and between the claims process, safety processes, and accounting department’s processes for payment of claims is essential to business operations and forms the foundation of essential job functions for this position. Some travel may be required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Abides by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.
  • Identifies claim types, coding and registration of new claims.
  • Works in collaboration with Risk Management team and legal team in communicating with insurers in regard to claims details, reserves, and other claim details that may be required to assist with the development of claims toward resolution.
  • Contacts parties when requested to verify claim details as needed and work with legal team to coordinate efforts in developing claims files.
  • Initiates and manages the claims process, follow up on status, and works with Risk Management and legal teams to work claims toward final resolution resolve disputes.
  • Maintains and administers claim files in third party tracking software to open/close claims.
  • Works with legal department in adjustment, assessment, and toward resolution of claims; provides administrative support with progression of claims as needed.
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders, communicates actions and works with safety department to assist in the refinement of internal processes designed to prevent incidents.
  • Works with Risk Management team to assess perceived needs in management training and assist safety department in development of training materials to further develop company prevention strategies.
  • Prepare presentations and summaries as required by stakeholders to communicate prevention strategies and policies.
  • Maintains NEBCO.net Safety page and acts as liaison with Nebraska Safety Council.
  • Coordinates with safety department to update and administer Inspection App, NEBCO Safety claims data, and coordinates development of standard-specific safety topic planner that makes safety meetings consistent throughout NEBCO.
  • Researches, explores and creates an overall structure for presentations to be presented by the safety department.
  • Assists with Accident/Incident investigations, as needed, and works with on-site personnel to develop investigation files, as needed.
  • Works with safety department to keep safety books and manuals updated.
  • Coordinates with accounting department to ensure timely payments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field; and
  • 3 years of experience in a similar field; or
  • an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.  

Other Skills and Abilities:  

  • Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and computer applications.
  • Technological acuity sufficient to organize claim files and attendant photos, videos, and witness statements
  • Time management, the ability to balance and coordinate many processes, and communication with various departments is essential.
  • Excellent organizational. Communication, and problem-solving skills.     
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively, sometimes adjusting for emergent situations.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
