Job Description

Total-Western, Inc. is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Service Truck Driver with a Class A or B California Driver’s License and valid HazMat Endorsements to join our team. The Service Truck Driver will be responsible for operating and maintaining service trucks, delivering equipment, tools, and hazardous materials to various job sites. This role requires a dedicated individual with a strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety. The position is based onsite, with daily interaction with project teams across different locations.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment and Material Delivery:

  • Safely operate service trucks to transport tools, equipment, materials, and hazardous substances to job sites as required by project teams.
  • Load and unload materials and equipment safely, ensuring proper handling and adherence to hazardous material protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with delivery schedules to support project timelines, coordinating deliveries across multiple sites.

Vehicle Maintenance:

  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of service trucks to ensure they are in safe operating condition, including checking safety equipment for transporting hazardous materials.
  • Perform minor repairs as needed and report any significant issues or needed repairs to supervisors immediately.
  • Maintain accurate vehicle logs and inspection records, particularly for hazardous materials handling.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and standards, ensuring safe driving practices at all times.
  • Follow all federal, state, and local transportation regulations regarding hazardous materials, including the proper use of placards and safety measures.
  • Ensure the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) during loading, unloading, and while on job sites.
  • Maintain up-to-date HazMat and CDL certifications as required by California state law.

Communication and Coordination:

  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with project teams, supervisors, and dispatch to ensure alignment on delivery schedules and requirements.
  • Assist with troubleshooting equipment issues and provide support for minor mechanical needs onsite.
  • Report any issues, delays, or concerns with deliveries to supervisors promptly.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, particularly regarding hazardous materials, including delivery receipts, material usage, and required safety documentation.
  • Provide daily reports on delivery activities, vehicle maintenance, and any encountered issues.

Required Qualifications

  • Licensing: Valid Class A or B California Driver’s License with HazMat Endorsements and a clean driving record.
  • CDL Requirements: Must meet all CDL requirements for transporting hazardous materials, including maintaining current certifications and abiding by safety regulations.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience operating service trucks or similar vehicles, including transporting hazardous materials in compliance with state and federal laws.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance and minor repair skills.
  • Safety Awareness: Strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices in vehicle operation and job site safety, especially related to hazardous materials.
  • Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including loading and unloading heavy equipment and materials.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate with various teams and provide customer service.

Preferred Experience

  • Industry Experience: Experience working in the oil and gas, power generation, or industrial construction sectors.
  • Mechanical Skills: Basic mechanical skills, with the ability to perform minor repairs on equipment and trucks.
  • Certifications: Additional certifications in OSHA safety courses, hazardous material handling, or related training.

Reporting Structure

Compensation
