Rate of Compensation:

  • $65,000 to $90,000 based on applicable skillset and experience.

  • Division Manager

Purpose:

  • The project engineer will effectively estimate and manage single or multiple projects from inception to completion while simultaneously fostering client relationships to ensure company sustainability. Additionally, the project engineer will facilitate project related communication, tracking, and scheduling responsibilities for each assigned project which may include the following project types: drilled shafts, micropiles, helical piles, strand anchors, soil retention systems, shotcrete, deep foundations, stabilization grouting, and other geotechnical construction projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform project estimating and prepare project reports and timelines.
  • Become thoroughly knowledgeable with the project's contract documents, drawings, specifications, and scope of work.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining the project master schedule using CPM techniques and appropriate scheduling software with input from other project management personnel.
  • Manage document control, and receive and log in new issue drawings and other contract documents; maintain document control log.
  • Perform field estimating/change orders as needed.
  • Responsible for assisting in purchasing and procurement.
  • Responsible for assisting in subcontract management.
  • Examine/inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost saving measures that arise or that may be encountered. Take corrective actions as needed.
  • Identify workplace safety hazards and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize them.
  • Organize and develop customer/vendor relationships.
  • Prepare and negotiate all contracts, subcontracts and subsequent change orders.
  • Monitor job costs and production to ensure proposed project timeline is achieved.
  • Coordinate projects needs with company management.
  • Coordinate production and scheduling of active steps of the project’s life cycle.
  • Coordinate with the company’s Fleet Department and Company Leadership to manage the lease/purchase of equipment necessary for scope of each project.
  • Prepare and issue invoices for completed work.
  • Business Development duties including:
    • Actively foster and develop new customer/supplier relationships;
    • Proactively communicate with customers to identify new opportunities for growth;
    • Participate in industry related functions to market the company’s capabilities and capacity.
  • Plan, direct, and supervise operational project/field work on a daily basis for assigned projects.
  • Assign tasks to field crews and drillers as project plans dictate.
  • Assist the Project Manager in the development of the on-site policies and procedures and enforcement of the same.
  • Able to recognize, and respond proactively to, differing site conditions, unanticipated conditions, and any other difficulties that arise during the course of the work.
  • Develop manpower and equipment resource needs for the various stages of a project.
  • Ensure that all monthly equipment hours are reported to Fleet Department and that necessary services are being performed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ensure that daily equipment inspection reports are being completed by the operators and turned in at the end of each
  • Manage and/or enter the daily timecard and daily project report.

Experience:

  • Two (2) or more years of experience managing geotechnical construction or civil construction projects required.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to coordinate multiple teams to efficient completion.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented atmosphere.
  • Ability to proficiently utilize the programs with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to proficiently utilize AutoCAD or similar design software.
  • Ability to use laser levels and sight transits to accurately install foundations elements to the proper elevation.
  • Knowledge of the techniques and the ability to finish concrete to appropriate finish (trial, broom, screed, etc.).
  • Ability to travel extensively and for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to be a highly motivated, self-starter.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situations.
  • Ability to adhere to schedules.
  • Ability to assess and quickly solve problems.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • The individual must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required.  This includes hard hat, task specific safety glasses, life vest, respirators, task specific hearing protection, task specific safety shoes, or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and location in which the work is being completed.
  • Ability to stand, stoop kneel, squat, climb, or sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to sit up to and including 6 hours in a standard issue office chair.
  • Ability to withstand exposure to computer screens and cellular telephone screens.
  • Ability to walk, step, climb, or otherwise move from one location to another on the job site.
  • Ability to visually see equipment operations well (either naturally or with corrective lenses).
  • Ability to execute repetitive movements of the feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands, and back in performance of work.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lb. objects occasionally and to carry to up 50 lb. objects occasionally.
  • Ability to adapt to outdoor conditions and prolonged exposure to sometimes adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to remaining calm during emergency situations and respond appropriately as dictated by the circumstance of the incident.
  • Ability to work more than 40 hours in any given week including weekend assignments and holidays as required.

Licenses or Certifications:

  • Valid driver license issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles preferred
  • OSHA 30 preferred

Education:

  • A bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university with a concentration in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field of study is required.
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of degree.

Travel:

  • Travel is required on an as needed basis
