The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating curb machines to form and finish concrete curbs and gutters on various construction sites. The Curb Machine Operator must have a keen eye for detail, strong technical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Duties:
- Set up, operate, and maintain curb machines to create concrete curbs and gutters.
- Ensure the machine is functioning correctly and making necessary adjustments for optimal performance.
- Load concrete into the curb machine and monitor the consistency and quality of the mix.
- Manage the flow and direction of concrete through the machine to ensure even and consistent distribution.
- Prepare the construction site by marking and setting up string lines and guides for accurate curb placement.
- Ensure the site is clean and free of obstructions before beginning operations.
- Inspect finished curbs and gutters for proper shape, size, and finish.
- Make adjustments as needed to maintain high standards of quality and adherence to project specifications.
- Perform regular maintenance on the curb machine to prevent breakdowns and extend its operational life.
- Troubleshoot and repair minor mechanical issues promptly to minimize downtime.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience operating curb machines in a construction environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Good physical stamina and the ability to work in various weather conditions.
- A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands listed below are representative of those necessary for a Curb Machine Operator to successfully perform the job's essential functions:
- Constant physical effort, including standing, for at least eight hours per day.
- Ability to stoop, bend, and crouch as necessary to perform key duties.
- Frequent use of hands extended overhead, often while operating hand power tools.
- Capability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds frequently and up to 150 pounds with assistance.
- Maintaining constant alertness to multiple activities on the construction site, including the movement of heavy equipment and coordination with other workers.
- Frequent walking on uneven surfaces, including natural ground and various weather conditions.
- The ability to safely climb on and off heavy mobile equipment.
Working Conditions:
- Outdoor construction sites with exposure to varying weather conditions.
- Requires physical activity, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- May involve working evenings, weekends, or overtime to meet project deadlines.
The posted salary or pay compensation ranges are approximate and dependent on applicable experience and qualifications. Upper ranges are flexible.
