Production Planner -Tufting Department

Summary of Position:

Detail-oriented production planner to create, modify, and manage production department schedules. The production planner’s responsibilities include monitoring inventory levels, regularly providing production status updates to management, and facilitating the timely delivery of products to customers. You should also be able to closely monitor the production process to ensure that production orders are completed on time and within budget.  As part of this job function, the production planner will have a key role in supply chain administration and other duties as required.

Ultimately, an exceptional production planner should demonstrate excellent time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills to ensure that production operations run smoothly.

  • Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Evaluating demand and inventory to create production schedules.
    • Cross Training with planners to ensure planning functions are covered.
    • Estimating the amount of material, equipment, and labor required for production.
    • Promptly addressing and resolving production issues to minimize delays in production.
    • Coordinating production operations in accordance with material, labor, and equipment availability.
    • Coordinating the logistics of incoming materials when necessary
    • Recommending viable solutions to reduce production costs as well as improve production processes and product quality.
    • Coordinating subcontracted process materials as needed
    • Working closely with planning and customer service teams to align schedules.
    • Effecting changes to production schedules to ensure that production deadlines are met.
    • Maintaining minimum required inventories and adjusting upstream materials to meet customer demand
    • Compiling status and performance reports and submitting them to management in a timely manner.
    • Promptly informing the relevant departments of changes to current production schedules.
    • Place Purchase Orders as required
    • To follow/monitor the Purchase Order until goods are delivered as per order requirements
    • Co-ordinating with partners ensuring that the stock meets the quality required
    • All above information to be updated and maintained in the data management system
    • Any issues (delay, pricing, quality, volume) to be communicated to Director of Planning & Procurement
    • Ensure that agreed stock levels of finished products with Director of Planning & Procurement are maintained at all-time such that customer orders can be met
  • Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s Degree Recommended.
    • Proven experience working as a production planner.
    • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
    • Sound knowledge of material requirements planning (MRP) and related software.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    • Effective communication skills

Work Environment:

    • Temperature Controlled Office.
    • This is an onsite job and is NOT remote. Regular and predictive attendance is mandatory.

The employee must be able to lift and move up to 10 lbs and occasionally lift and move objects up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
