Our Business Manager position takes ownership of and is responsible for the safety, growth, quality, performance, financial metrics, and risk management of the respective office and employees.  The Business Manager promotes the Company's culture surrounding our Core Values. Participates in the strategic planning of the engineering and construction materials testing teams in developing and implementing business objectives and operational plans, and actively drives business development/marketing plans to accomplish office and Company objectives.  Assures that employees and interns are hired, trained, cross-trained, and developed thoroughly and with results to cover fluctuating workloads and assure work-life balance.  

Requires knowledge of financial management and key metrics such as budgeting, forecasting, billing, labor costs, employee utilization, efficiency, multipliers, etc. Experience with safety, quality management and business development will be important.  Will serve as an active and visible member in our industry and in the local community by developing and sustaining long-term client relationships.  Minimizes the impacts of seasonality.  Reviews project proposals and reports in a liability conscientious manner and ensures all deliverables are accurate, timely, and represent prudent business practices.  Ensures protocols, procedures, and programs are aligned with STRATA objectives and commitments.  

Requires excellent verbal and written communication including the ability to write reports and correspondence legibly, accurately, and professionally and be able to communicate effectively with current and prospective clients, contractors, co-workers, the Spokane team, and direct reports. Ensures communications are thorough, consistent, robust, reduce errors and establishes a team approach to problem solving, and exhibits personal accountability.   Must be able to mentor, train, and develop employees thoroughly and with results.  

The ideal Business Manager will have 10+ years of engineering-related or CMT-related leadership experience.  A bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience is required.  A Master's degree and Professional Engineering (PE) license is preferred but not required.   

The base salary for this position begins at $120,000 and could be more based upon a candidate's experience.
