COMPENSATION: $88,000 - $141,000 Annually
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Information Services Project Manager (IS-PM) will guide Dakota Electric Association (DEA) technology projects from start to finish. This position involves leading cross-functional teams and ensuring projects are completed on time and within scope and budget. The IS-PM is responsible for analyzing and documenting business and technical requirements and communicating these effectively to all technical and non-technical stakeholders. A strong understanding of major business systems such as CIS, AMI, GIS, MDM, OMS, and WMS is essential for successfully managing and integrating these technologies. The role requires excellent project management skills, technical proficiency, and the ability to foster collaboration across departments.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Project Planning – Develop project charters and plans, including defining scope, coordinate activities, communicate updates, and ensure timely and budget-compliant project completion.
- Project Management – Oversee project management tasks, including time management, cost estimating, budget development, team organization, risk management, detailed project documentation, and progress monitoring/reporting.
- Project Management Methodologies – Identify and recommend different methodologies and frameworks (i.e. Kanban, Scrum, Lean) to support specific projects for appropriate business opportunities.
- Execution – Support project needs by performing assigned tasks, assisting the development team in breaking down tasks alongside estimates, and leading the project team by directing and delegating tasks.
- Budget and Planning – Assist in project budget creation and long-term planning for the Information Services department and provide recommendations.
- Strategic Collaboration – Work with company managers to plan and prioritize hardware and software upgrades and establish equipment enhancement priorities.
- Vendor Relationships – Manage vendor relationships and handle statements of work, software licenses, and renewals.
- Change Management – Demonstrates expertise in planning and executing management strategies to facilitate smooth transitions, minimize resistance, ensure communication and documentation.
- Stakeholder Engagement – Collaborate with internal departments, teams, business partners, and vendors to elicit, understand, analyze, document business needs and communicate existing and emerging business information needs.
- Technology exploration – Stay updated on new technologies and industry standards, evaluate potential benefits, and coordinate acquiring and implementing new systems and tools.
- Additional Duties – Performs other work as apparent or assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5 years of project management experience, specifically in IT and development projects
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business, decision sciences, or a related discipline is required. (5 years of related work experience in these areas may be accepted in lieu of a degree.)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- PMP/PMI Project Management
- Certified Scrum
- ITIL Certification 3.0 or greater
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The working environment is a normal office. The IS-PM may be required to work extra hours when necessary or when the workload is required. Occasionally extra work hours outside of the “non-standard” work hours and up to 5% travel may also be necessary.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands for this position are identified on the Office/Professional template. In addition, the following demands may be required.
- Lifting/Carrying: The employee will occasionally lift and carry CPU’s and monitors weighing up to 40 pounds for short distances.
- Reaching: The employee will occasionally perform cabling tasks reaching under desks, plugging in cables, answering telephone, and pulling wires, access spaces above ceiling panels, reaching for books and other items on and above desk.
- Climbing: The employee will be required to climb when data cable needs servicing above ceiling panels, at a height of 10-15’ above the floor.
