We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Building Automation and Controls Engineer to design, implement, and maintain advanced building automation systems (BAS) that optimize building performance.
Primary Duties for the Building Automation and Controls Engineer:
- Design, program, and implement building automation systems (HVAC, lighting, energy management, and other integrated systems).
- Develop control strategies and sequences of operations for system optimization.
- Perform system integration between various building systems and devices.
- Conduct site surveys and assessments to understand customer needs and system requirements.
- Performs site specific training for owner/operator on the installed mechanical systems.
- Provide troubleshooting, commissioning, and technical support for BAS installations.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure timely and successful project execution.
- Create and maintain system documentation, including diagrams, software configurations, and user manuals.
- Monitor system performance and identify opportunities for enhancements..
- Troubleshoot systems, components and devices and diagnose defects
- Performs Commissioning and Test & Balance measurements
- Assists with turnover to service providers.
- Work from floor plans, blueprints, specifications, and schematics
- Travel requirements with occasional overnight stays. (20 %)
Minimum qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, controls, and electrical systems.
- Experience with BAS platforms (e.g., Tridium Niagara, Siemens, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, or similar).
- Knowledge of networking protocols (e.g., BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, TCP/IP).
- Proficiency in programming languages used in automation (e.g., Java, Python, or system-specific languages).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently and in collaborative team settings.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Schematics, construction drawings (and specifications),
- Construction site safety,
- Microsoft Office with high proficiency in Excel
Preferred
- HVAC mechanical system knowledge, Niagara, Tridium, Honeywell and Siemens
