South Lake Stone – A Division of Rieth-Riley

South Lake Stone is an active limestone quarry located in Northwest Indiana.  South Lake Stone supplies materials to the heavy highway construction industry for public, commercial, and private sector projects.  We take pride in safely doing high-quality work.

SUMMARY

Responsible for managing all aspects of quarry operations including ensuring safety and environmental compliance, extracting raw materials, and maximizing productivity.  Successful candidates will possess strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to collaborate across departments to increase efficiency.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Supervise daily operations of the quarry, including extraction, processing, and transportation of materials.
  • Enforce health and safety procedures, ensuring the site is safe for personnel and visitors.
  • Plan, organize, and manage production schedules to meet targets and deadlines.
  • Monitor production rates and adjust operations to optimize efficiency.
  • Manage the maintenance and repair of quarry machinery and equipment.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of proven leadership experience in a crushed limestone mining operation
  • In-depth knowledge of quarry operations, safety standards, and environmental regulations
  • Strategic planning skills essential to quarry development
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage and motivate personnel
  • High degree of attention to detail
  • Plant Maintenance experience (welding, electrical, fabrication)
  • Ability to work outdoors in all seasons
