Job Summary:

The Yard Supervisor will oversee daily operations, ensuring smooth workflow, maintaining safety standards, and supporting the team in achieving performance goals. This role includes coordinating tasks, providing guidance to staff, and assisting in day-to-day activities to ensure operational efficiency.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage the day-to-day activities of employees and ensure tasks are completed at the manager’s direction.
• Provide leadership to build and maintain a strong team through effective communication, training, and coaching.
• Assess service performance levels and take action to remove barriers to efficiency.
• Ensure all functions operate at levels that exceed customer expectations.
• Prepare reports, status updates, and business reviews.
• Approve time off and timesheets while ensuring accuracy.
• Oversee warehouse operations, including proper receipt of merchandise.
• Operate fork trucks with capacities of 6,000 pounds or more safely and efficiently.
• Maintain warehouse appearance and functionality.
• Collaborate with management to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
• Engage drivers and warehouse staff to ensure on-time and complete deliveries.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, ADA, and company policies concerning health and safety.

Skills/Abilities:

• Strong managerial and supervisory skills.
• Ability to interpret financial data to achieve goals.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record, with current auto insurance per company policy.
• Strict adherence to safety requirements and company policies.
• Willingness to work in a team environment and assist coworkers as needed.
• Ability to maintain professional relationships with customers, managers, and office staff.
• Availability to work long hours and weekends when necessary.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
• Five years of related experience in operations and sales management preferred.

Working Environment and Physical Demands:

• Must be able to access and navigate the facility.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Moderate noise levels in operational areas.
• Ability to work in outdoor environments and manage various weather conditions.
• Role involves desk work, customer interaction, and hands-on work in the warehouse (both indoors and outdoors).
• Exposure to varying temperatures and physical activity in the warehouse environment.
• May require work outside of normal business hours.
• Fast-paced environment with deadlines.
