SUMMARY 

Support and work closely with the project management team and steel superintendents.  Assist in the execution of company policies and procedures, including project-specific plans and specifications, and provide technical and specialized functional support and recommendations for carrying them out. 

 JOB DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Attend kickoff meeting and take meeting notes as it pertains to specific items and/or requirements of the project.
  • Secure necessary welding and equipment certifications for field crews, ensure hot work permit is in place.
  • Assist in securing safety and project (cranes) equipment for project.
  • Ensure Architectural, Concrete, Fabrication, Drawings are on site.
  • Set up labor tracking sheets and local vendor accounts.
  • Prepare Work Order/Back Charge rate structure and forms.
  • Complete safety inspections on tools and equipment.
  • Secure delivery of project equipment such as dumpsters, temporary power and security fencing, if required.
  • Fill out and submit Superintendent’s daily/weekly report.
  • Verify daily production schedule is accurate and communicated with crew and Superintendent. Update schedules and labor tracking daily and conduct 3- week look ahead with Steel Superintendent once a week.
  • Write and track RFI’s related to field specific issues for General Contractor
  • Complete and submit Human Resource documents for hiring of new field employees and submit employee weekly time cards
  • Track and organize current drawings and maintain redlines daily on Bluebeam.
  • Inventory material, documenting BOM (Bill of Materials), monitor weather and track weather delays and update project punch list weekly.
  • Attend weekly site meeting with PM/Client/General Contractor and take meeting notes as it pertains to Steel Superintendent responsibilities.
  • Ensure equipment is returned and utilities are cancelled at the completion of project.
  • Photo documentation of completed punch list items and final building condition.
  • 100% travel required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Construction Management Degree other related field or equivalent construction experience.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to review and analyze cost reports.
  • Some knowledge of codes (i.e. UBC, ADA, etc.).
  • Knowledge of safety requirements.
  • Confidentiality required.
  • Willingness to travel via air and/or ground, often on short notice, and/or work on extended field assignments.
  • Willing to work in a fast-paced production environment; may include physical labor and extended work days and work weeks.
  • Maintain a regular and dependable level of attendance.
  • Ability to work well with co-workers, clients, subcontractors, and vendors in a professional manner.
  • Self-motivated and disciplined.
  • Strong skills in the following areas: attention to detail, decision-making, recordkeeping, highly organized, multi-tasking, grammar, and spelling.
  • Some field experience preferred.
  • Excellent phone skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills. English - able to communicate, read, and understand. Bi-lingual ability preferred (English/Spanish).
  • Strong computer skills - MS Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, etc. Also, should have basic understanding of computer networking.

 JOB MAY REQUIRE

  • Ability to navigate work sites and office facilities.
  • Bending/stooping, squatting, crawling, reaching above shoulders, kneeling and twisting
  • Ascending to and descending from heights up to or over 100' by use of permanent or temporary stairs, ladders, aerial lifts or use of personnel hoists.
  • Some lifting of various weights and sizes. May involve lifting above shoulders.
  • Vision abilities include close and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Operate, finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Hearing at levels of normal speech.
  • Repetitive motion (to include, but not limited to): standing, walking or sitting for extended periods of time, working at a computer and typing for long periods of time.
  • Willing to work in all types of weather.
  • Wearing of required Personal Protective Equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, work boots, gloves, etc.).
