Description:
An installation technician for this job is responsible for accurately installing Refrigeration, HVAC, and/or EMS equipment in commercial structures. Ideal candidates will hold knowledge in Refrigeration, HVAC and/or EMS equipment, codes, as well as proper installation procedures in the retail/convenience/supermarket environment.
The ideal fit individual for our installation crews is a hybrid team player who enjoys working on varying types of commercial equipment related to Commercial Refrigeration, HVAC, and/or the EMS field. Project-dependent travel may also apply. Travel is typically limited to the State of Indiana.
This position does not apply to remote workers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Comply with all applicable standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures and the maintenance of a clean work area.
- Replacement of Refrigeration, HVAC and/or EMS equipment or complete systems.
- Installation of new Refrigeration, HVAC and/or EMS systems in remodeled rooms and/or buildings.
- Install, connect, and adjust components, such as thermostats, humidistats, and timers, using hand tools.
- Join/braze pipes or tubing.
- Lay-out and connect piping/duct in compliance with codes, specifications, and schematics.
- Lay out and connect electrical wiring between the controls and equipment according to the wiring diagram, using electrical hand tools.
- Test pipe or tubing joints and connections for leaks, using a pressure gauge, leak detector, or soap-and-water solution.
- Test electrical circuits and components for continuity, using electrical test equipment.
- Inspect and test systems to verify compliance with plans and specifications and to detect and locate malfunctions.
- Use knowledge of mechanical codes and proper application; and knowledge of proper electrical and safety procedures to meet company and customers’ needs
- Obtain and maintain required certifications.
- Assist in other departments if needed (i.e. service PMs).
- Maintain confidentiality and use discretion with information.
- Effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small-group situations

Requirements:
- Minimum 1-year of commercial installation experience in Refrigeration, HVAC and/or EMS; preferably with a background in supermarket construction.
- Minimum 1-year experience in commercial pipefitting/duct fitting
- Commercial carpentry and/or case fitting experience is desired
- Must have a clean driving record, with no suspensions within last three (3) years, and possession of a valid driver’s license
- High School equivalent education and/or vocational school training is required
- Universal EPA Certified (or able to obtain within 90days of employment)
- Ability to work out of town when needed and varying shifts as needed.
(Note: when working out of town, crews are home on weekends)
- Able to work at heights (ability to work on and climb ladders/work on scissor lifts).
- Must be willing and able to pass a drug screen
- Have strong math skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Universal EPA Certified (required within 90days of employment)
- Scissor Lift Training
- OSHA 10 or OSHA30 Card
- Signal/Rigger Certification
