Position Summary:
We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team in an in office full time position setting. This position will play a key role in the accounting department, ensuring accurate financial records, data entry, transaction processing, and support the overall financial health of our Company. This role requires a detail-oriented, organized, and proactive individual with a solid understanding of accounting principles, accrual accounting, job costing, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Key Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process, verify, and track all accounts payable and receivable posting transactions including AR receivables.
- This position is data entry heavy and includes all handling of vendor invoices from receival to posting, approx. 800 transactions a month.
- Job Costing: Assist with job costing for construction projects, ensuring proper allocation of costs to the right project codes, and analyzing variances between actual and projected costs with budget management.
- Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile Company credit cards on a monthly basis to ensure all transactions are accurately recorded.
- General Ledger Entries: Prepare journal entries and assist in maintaining the general ledger, ensuring proper categorization of all transactions.
- Tax Compliance: Assist with the preparation and filing of sales tax, payroll taxes, and other required tax filings for the company.
- Job Analysis: Work closely with project managers to ensure project costs and revenue are tracked accurately, including indirect/overhead costs.
- Audit Support: Support internal and external audits by providing requested financial documentation and reports.
- Compliance: Ensure all accounting activities adhere to legal and regulatory requirements, company policies, and industry best practices.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field OR a minimum of 2 years experience in accounting management.
- Experience: A minimum of 4 years general accounting experience.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and principles as they pertain to the construction industry for contractors.
- Proficiency in accounting software
- Intermediate Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
- Knowledge of Microsoft Applications beyond the basics (Must have extensive knowledge of Outlook and excel operations).
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail with consistent accuracy and ability to critically think.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with other departments and teams.
- Proven strong communication skills, both written and verbal with clear direction and communication.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of Construction Accounting: Experience with construction accounting functions.
- Knowledge of Job Costing: Experience with job costing, project tracking, and/or budgeting.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position.
- Must be able to see, and hear with or without correction.
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time in an office setting and work with general equipment such as keyboard, computer, mouse, printer, etc.

Salary:
Starts at $65,000 - dependent on qualifications and experience.
