Position Overview:
Total-Western, Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Engineer, Energy Services to join our Energy Services team. This position is focused on providing engineering support for energy-related projects, including renewable energy, power generation, and energy efficiency projects. As a Project Engineer, you will work with cross-functional teams to ensure that technical, financial, and timeline objectives are met. The role will require a combination of engineering expertise, project management skills, and a deep understanding of energy sector operations. You will contribute to the execution of high-impact energy projects, enhancing Total-Western’s footprint in this growing market.


Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Coordination:
Support the planning, design, and implementation of energy projects, ensuring that all project phases are completed in compliance with schedules, budgets, and technical specifications.

Technical Support:
Provide engineering expertise in the areas of energy systems design, analysis, and optimization. Assist with technical solutions and troubleshoot engineering challenges in energy services projects.

Project Management Assistance:
Assist project managers with day-to-day project operations, including tracking progress, managing project resources, and ensuring that project goals are met within the defined scope.

Client and Stakeholder Communication:
Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and vendors to ensure alignment on project specifications and performance goals. Communicate technical aspects of the project to non-technical team members and clients.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:
Monitor energy services projects to ensure they meet Total-Western’s quality standards, as well as regulatory and environmental compliance. Perform regular site inspections to assess compliance with safety, quality, and engineering specifications.

Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate project documentation, including drawings, specifications, project schedules, and change orders. Prepare and present regular reports on project status, including progress, issues, and budget performance.

Cost Control and Resource Management:
Assist in tracking project costs and resource usage, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget. Support the team in identifying and addressing cost-saving opportunities.

Safety Leadership:
Ensure all energy services projects adhere to Total-Western’s rigorous safety standards and promote a safety-first culture among team members. Participate in safety meetings and site safety inspections.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Energy Engineering, or a related field.

  • 3-5 years of experience in energy services or related industries, with a focus on power generation, energy efficiency, or renewable energy projects.

  • Strong technical knowledge of energy systems, power generation, and energy optimization technologies.

  • Familiarity with industry standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA, OSHA).

  • Proficiency with engineering software (AutoCAD, MATLAB, or similar) and project management tools (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage and resolve complex technical issues.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to clients and stakeholders.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.


Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with renewable energy projects, such as solar, wind, or battery storage systems.

  • Certification as a Professional Engineer (PE) or other relevant certifications.

  • Familiarity with energy modeling and simulation tools.

  • Experience with energy audit processes and energy efficiency initiatives.

  • Knowledge of energy regulatory frameworks and sustainability goals.


Work Environment:
This position is primarily field-based with regular travel to project sites across the Mountain States. Up to 50% travel may be required to visit various project locations, providing hands-on support and ensuring successful project execution. The role may involve working in industrial environments and requires adherence to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary.


Reporting Structure:
The Project Engineer, Energy Services will report to the Project Manager. This role will work closely with the energy services team, engineering departments, procurement, and construction teams to ensure successful project execution.


Compensation & Benefits:
Salary range for this position is $80,000 - $110,000 annually, depending on experience. In addition to competitive compensation, Total-Western, Inc. offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:
