Daily Responsibilities

  • Long-distance driving
  • Communicating and coordinating with dispatchers
  • Compliance with all road and transport rules.
  • Ability to drive safely, irrespective of the weather or time of day.
  • Securing cargo and properly arranging and balancing it within the vehicle
  • Maintaining a detailed log of working hours in compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Ensuring any mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected before driving
  • Maintain safe and clean equipment
  • Performs miscellaneous service duties such as checking, oil, water, gasoline, and air in tires
  • Completing, storing, and submitting all necessary documentation.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly inspections required by OSHA, DOT, and Sutter Roofing
  • Adhering to safety standard and DOT guidelines.
  • Helps to clean off jobs, load tools or any other cleaning duties at the job site or warehouse
  • Review the schedule board daily with the Superintendents, and the Warehouse manager.
  • Plan routes and meet delivery schedules
  • Take part in monthly safety training program

Qualifications

  • Class B CDL License (Class A Preferred) as required
  • Comfortable using GPS equipment.
  • 2 years of driving experience required
  • 2 years of a clean DMV motor vehicle record required
  • Ability to read comprehend and write in the English language and perform simple mathematical calculations with the mental ability to handle receipts read maps and road signs and maintain logs
  • Available to work extended hours and travel
  • High degree of attention and considerable dexterity in the control of trucks in preventing damage to materials and other equipment, or customers facility.
  • Must meet DOT physical and medical requirements and pass substance abuse screening,
    • Note: As a safety sensitive employee subject to random substance abuse screening under company policy.

Physical Requirements:

  • Body positions -Sitting, standing, kneeling
  • Body movements - Walking, turning, stooping and reaching for and carrying materials, stepping over and around obstacles, climbing ladders and scaffolding
  • Body senses - Must hear well enough to understand oral directions. Must see to read forms, maps, labels, directions, prints, and specifications
  • Ability to lift and move 100 pounds
  • Physically strong, agile, and dexterous, and undeterred by heights and adverse climatic conditions
  • Frequently sitting in cab for long periods of time
