Job Summary
The Assistant Project Manager will support the Project Manager in overseeing mechanical construction projects, ensuring timely completion, adherence to budget, and compliance with safety and quality standards. This role involves coordinating with subcontractors, managing project documentation, and assisting in scheduling and resource allocation.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, scheduling, and coordinating mechanical construction projects, including HVAC, plumbing, and piping installations.
- Monitor project progress and report updates to the Project Manager, identifying potential risks or delays.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, including contracts, change orders, RFIs, and submittals.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and onsite personnel to ensure materials and labor are available as needed.
- Support budget tracking and cost control, reviewing invoices and ensuring alignment with project financial goals.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies on all job sites.
- Participate in project meetings, providing input on timelines, resources, and technical requirements.
- Assist in resolving field issues, coordinating with engineers and architects as needed.
- Maintain positive relationships with clients, addressing concerns and ensuring satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Education: Some college coursework completed (Associate’s degree or equivalent preferred, ideally in construction management, mechanical engineering, or a related field).
- Experience: At least 1-2 years of experience in construction, preferably in mechanical contracting or a related field.
- Skills:
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, piping).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project) and project management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam).
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
