Job Description: EHS – Field Construction Safety Coordinator

Job Type: Full-time non-exempt

Work Location: 100% travel required - Site specific depending on company needs

Hourly Pay Range:  $38-$43/hour

Essential Responsibilities & Requirements

  • Function as the designated on-site safety authority, serving as the primary expert and resource for all safety-related questions, protocols, and incidents on the job site.
  • Educate employees on critical safety policies including PPE requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, confined space protocols, and other OSHA compliance standards while actively enforcing these procedures to address worksite hazards and concerns.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential dangers before they cause accidents, assessing risks, and implementing corrective measures.
  • Investigating accidents or near-misses to determine root causes and develop prevention strategies while maintaining required documentation.
  • Notify the necessary management personnel immediately of any policy or procedure violations. 
  • Ensure a proactive approach to accident prevention by conducting comprehensive safety training sessions, communicating emergency procedures to ensure workers know how to respond to various safety situations, provide expert guidance to management on safety policy implementation, and serve as a trusted advisor to employees on identifying hazards, following proper safety protocols, and maintaining situational awareness throughout all job site activities.
  • Regularly conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings using simple, jargon-free language that all employees can understand regardless of education level or language barriers.
  • Follow up on previous safety discussions to reinforce key points and track implementation. 
  • Recognize and celebrate employees who demonstrate good safety practices to encourage others . 
  • Lead the organization and implementation of mandatory safety training programs, ensuring compliance with both company policies and customer-specific safety protocols.

Required Qualifications

  • Educational/Certification training in environmental, health and safety
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the EHS field/construction or oil and gas preferred
  • Experience with OSHA reporting and incident report writing
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations specifically 29 CFR 1926
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to engage with others
  • Working knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Willingness to travel and be away from home for extended periods of time

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within the Oil and Gas sector 
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental health and safety or similar field
  • Ability to perform Operator qualifications (OQs) or knowledge of those processes

Physical Requirements

  • Work up to or over a 10-hour shift doing hard physical work at times, with numerous hours spent in various locations.
  • Be able to work in varying temperatures and outside conditions.
  • Need to maintain physical strength and stamina; Use arms, hands, and legs fully; Push, pull, and frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; kneel, balance, crouch, crawl, and climb to perform job tasks.
  • Stamina to perform tasks repetitively and continuously for several hour intervals.
  • Work environment will involve exposure to elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or very loud noises.
  • The ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to- safety toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, fire resistant clothing, hard hat, vest, etc.).
  • May need to work at heights and must be able to abide by all safety and fall-protection requirements including proper personal protective equipment.
  • Evaluate information based on measurable standards; and see details in objects or drawings and recognize slight differences in shapes and shadings.
  • Keep good balance and work at heights.
  • See well at close and far range (either naturally or with correction).
  • Hear well (either naturally or with correction.)
  • Coordinate the use of eyes, hands, voice and feet.
