Job Summary:
The Concrete Plants Area Manager is responsible for the daily management of the plants within the assigned geographic area.
West: Delta, McClure, Pettisville, West Unity
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervises and manages plant personnel and mixer drivers to service our customers efficiently and effectively. Oversee the scheduling of daily/weekly manpower to complete the work in the most efficient manner.
- Lead operation initiatives and safety goals that meet the overall goals of the company. Ensure safety meetings and training sessions are performed to continue our Safety 24/7 culture.
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment. Assists with the compliance of EPA and DOT regulations and permits.
- Review all incident/near miss reports and assist with investigations, when needed.
- Safety and Compliance Oversight: Regularly review driver video footage to ensure compliance with safety protocols, investigate incidents, and provide feedback for training and performance evaluations. Utilize data to enhance driver skills, ensure adherence to safety standards, and maintain compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Understands the principles of quality concrete and concrete construction practices. Becomes knowledgeable in the safe application of concrete products.
- Represents the Quality Control department on job sites as needed and responds to customer service issues. Always executes excellent customer service.
- Obtains an ACI Level 1 Testing Certification and performs such tests as needed.
- Assist in helping track all inventoried items at all ready-mixed concrete operations and restock items as needed.
- Ensure that preventative maintenance and repairs to the batch plant, mixer trucks and other production equipment is performed on a timely basis.
- Manages all weekly payroll and approvals for direct reports.
- In-person attendance is required.
Other Required Duties and Responsibilities:
- Can safely and efficiently operate plant and yard equipment as necessary.
- Perform additional tasks or special assignments as directed by management.
- Prolonged periods of standing.
- Must be able to access and navigate the facility.
- Safely access and navigate the facility, including climbing and descending ladders in various weather conditions.
- Able to utilize a computer for email communication, document preparation and presentations.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, or up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- The position will require work outside of normal business hours.
Skills/Abilities:
- Must be able to communicate with others by telephone, computer and in-person.
- Uses effective written and oral communication skills.
- Complies with all USDOT/FMCSA regulations.
- Knowledge of local roads, streets and highways for efficient deliveries.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Products, Command Alkon and ERP systems.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and willingness to travel as needed.
- A Valid CDL a strong plus.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or other related field and/or equivalent combination of knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Five (5) or more years in a supervision role within the construction industry, specifically in concrete, aggregates, asphalt or construction equipment preferred.
- Concrete plant experience is a strong plus.
