Job Description
The Department of Public Utilities Legal Division is transition to a new database platform.  To ensure data integrity in the new system, we are looking for paralegals to help certify cases marked for closure.
The Department of Public Utilities (DPU) oversees investor-owned electric power, natural gas, and water companies in Massachusetts.  The DPU Legal Division employs approximately 25 attorneys.  The Legal Division is transitioning to a new database platform.  To ensure data integrity in the new platform, the Division seeks paralegals to assist the attorneys in certifying their cases for closure.  This includes reviewing dockets and ensuring the internal files match the external files.  Paralegals will also be responsible for reviewing motions and preparing them for attorney (Hearing Officer) signature and issuance. 
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Review dockets and verify that internal files accurately match external records.
  • Assist in certifying cases for closure within the new database system.
  • Review motions and prepare documents for attorney (Hearing Officer) approval and issuance.
  • Summarize and organize case-related materials as needed.
  • Meet deadlines and complete assignments according to project schedules.
