GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Accounting Analyst is an entry level position that will allow the selected candidate the opportunity to be exposed to various accounting competencies within the organization, steady growth and future advancement opportunities. Initially the position will be exposed to basic accounting functions such as Accounts Payable support, Accounts Receivable support, various sales/use/fuels tax reporting and cost accounting. The position will also provide support for various compliance responsibilities such as EEO reporting and risk management.  As these functions are mastered, the accounting associate may earn the opportunity to take on additional analytics projects, job cost accounting, fixed asset accounting, etc. The ideal candidate should demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office products, and the ability to learn various accounting applications and participate in implementation of new technology.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assume responsibility for the timeliness and the accuracy of accounts payable invoice input.
  • Contact vendors and employees to follow up on outstanding invoice balances.
  • Handle other A/P related administrative responsibilities as assigned.
  • Provide any required assistance during the year-end audit.
  • Participate in production of 1099 processing
  • Review and process mileage reports for compliance with IFTA(International Fuel Tax Agreement)/IRP (International Registration Plan) reporting
  • Prepare quarterly IFTA reports and yearly IRP renewal
  • Gather and maintain information needed for monthly/yearly filing of Federal Form 2290-Heavy Highway Vehicle Use Tax.
  • Setup jobs and contracts in accounting software
  • Maintain and track hired trucker information including: insurance, driver certifications, federal identification number
  • Prepare special reports as required by management
  • Perform basic accounting analysis as requested by management
  • Liaise with Human Resources to track and comply with EEO requirements
  • Ensure compliance with insurance requirements related to construction projects

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field, minimum of total 150 credit hours and a minimum of 24 accounting course credits
  • Must be strong and proficient with Microsoft products including but not limited to Excel and Word.
  • Be able to comprehend and follow instructions and be able to multi-task
  • Perform complex and repetitive tasks
  • Maintain a fast work pace and high volume work load
  • Be a strong team player and able to take initiative on projects
  • Exceptional organizational skills to effectively coordinate and complete a variety of tasks in a timely manner
