Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Manufacturing Engineer with strong experience in metal fabrication and TIG welding processes to join our team in Gibraltar, MI. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands‑on environment, enjoys solving fabrication challenges, and is passionate about improving manufacturing methods for aerospace components. Responsibilities

  • Develop, refine, and document fabrication processes including TIG welding, forming, cutting, and assembly of aerospace components.
  • Create and maintain weld procedures and ensure compliance with NADCAP and AS9100 requirements.
  • Provide hands‑on technical support to welders and fabricators, including troubleshooting weld defects, distortion, and fit‑up issues.
  • Interpret blueprints, GD&T, weld symbols, and aerospace specifications to ensure accurate and repeatable manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to design fixtures, jigs, and tooling that improve accuracy and throughput.
  • Conduct root‑cause analysis for fabrication‑related nonconformances and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Lead Lean Manufacturing initiatives focused on reducing rework, improving weld quality, and streamlining fabrication workflows.
  • Support process validation, first‑article builds, and continuous improvement projects across machining and fabrication departments.
  • Train production staff in new fabrication methods, welding standards, and best practices.
  • Monitor KPIs related to weld quality, throughput, scrap, and process efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, Industrial Engineering, Welding Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in aerospace fabrication, TIG welding processes, or precision welded assemblies.
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and process optimization.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, GD&T, and weld symbols.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem‑solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Familiarity with CAD software is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
