Position Summary
Elder Corporation is seeking an experienced Heavy Truck / Equipment Mechanic to maintain, diagnose, and repair our fleet of Class 7 and 8 heavy trucks and trailers, as well as Class 2 light-duty trucks and construction equipment.
This role is essential to minimizing equipment downtime and ensuring our fleet operates safely and efficiently.
The ideal candidate has strong diesel diagnostic skills, hands-on experience with heavy equipment, and the ability to work independently in both shop and field environments.

Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair heavy trucks, trailers, and construction equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, electrical, air brake, and fuel systems
- Repair engines, transmissions, and drivetrain components
- Maintain and repair heavy equipment, including excavators, loaders, dozers, and skid steers
- Perform welding and fabrication as needed
- Respond to field service calls and emergency repair needs
- Maintain accurate service records and work orders
- Ensure all repairs meet company safety policies and DOT standards
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Participate in program-specific training as provided
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a heavy truck or heavy equipment mechanic
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines and hydraulic systems
- Experience using diagnostic software and tools
- Ability to read and interpret service manuals and schematics
- Must provide basic mechanic tools (specialty tools supplied by company)
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Dependable with a strong work ethic
- Ability to work extended hours during peak construction season
- Proficiency in maintaining and updating equipment records electronically
Preferred Qualifications
- Class A CDL
- Hazmat and Tanker endorsements
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
- Ability to work in both shop and outdoor environments
- Comfortable working around heavy equipment and machinery
- Ability to bend, kneel, climb, and stand for extended periods
