Position Overview

Fite Building Company is seeking a Senior Construction / Program Manager to lead large-scale, complex projects and multi-project programs primarily across the Central to North Alabama region. This role requires a strategic leader who can oversee multiple project teams, drive performance, and maintain strong relationships with clients, design partners, and trade partners.

While the majority of work is currently in North Alabama, this role offers flexibility to operate from our Huntsville, Decatur, or Birmingham offices, depending on proximity to active projects and company needs.

This individual must embody Fite’s core values and serve as a culture carrier both in the field and in the office.

Key Responsibilities

Program & Project Leadership

• Oversee multiple concurrent projects or a large-scale program from preconstruction through closeout
• Provide PM to executive-level oversight of budgets, schedules, risk management, and quality control
• Ensure project teams are aligned with company standards, processes, and expectations
• Lead project strategy meetings and support major procurement and subcontractor selection decisions

Client & Relationship Management

• Serve as primary point of contact for key clients on assigned programs
• Build long-term relationships grounded in trust, transparency, and performance
• Support business development efforts and assist in securing repeat work

Financial & Operational Oversight

• Monitor financial performance, forecasting, and cost controls across assigned projects
• Identify risk early and implement proactive mitigation strategies
• Ensure projects meet or exceed profitability targets

Team Leadership & Mentorship

• Mentor Project Managers, Superintendents, and Assistant PMs
• Reinforce a culture of accountability and high performance
• Promote professional growth and leadership development within teams

Safety & Quality

• Champion Fite’s safety culture
• Ensure field teams uphold the highest quality standards
• Drive continuous improvement in field execution and operations

Innovation & Process Improvement

• Evaluate and implement tools or processes that improve efficiency, quality, or safety
• Support innovation committee initiatives and field technology adoption
• Encourage practical, field-tested innovation not shiny distractions

Qualifications

• 10+ years of commercial construction experience (non negotiable.  Must be a builder first)
• 5+ years in a senior-level Construction or Program management oversight role
• Proven experience managing large-scale or multi-project programs
• Strong financial acumen and budget management expertise
• Experience in Alabama market preferred
• Familiar with Alabama Design/Contracting Laws
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Logistics, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Preferred:

• Experience with Procore or similar construction management platforms
• Strong preconstruction and estimating collaboration background
• Experience mentoring and developing emerging leaders
