Position Summary

The Assistant Project Manager shall have responsibility for helping lead and manage all facets of production (labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, etc.) to a successful outcome on all assigned projects.  This includes projects completing on-time and within budget to the satisfaction of the customer.  The Assistant Project Manager must be a good communicator, must have a sound understanding of the workflow and must possess a strong technical comprehension of the work.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Estimating:
  • Prepare or assist in preparing estimates for conceptual projects
  • Complete assigned project estimates on established deadlines and priorities.
  • Prepare accurate estimates of direct costs for assigned projects according to standard processes
  • Assist in preparing clear and effective proposals for assigned projects according to standard processes
  • Assist in soliciting and qualifying proposals from suppliers and/or subcontractors; participate in the procurement process, as directed
  1. Project Inception and Procurement:
  • Order Material, prepare purchase orders, track and verify material deliveries
  • Maintain stock material inventory
  • Assist in obtaining and evaluating bids from suppliers and subcontractors
  • Obtain required product data submittal information, MSDS and other information. Monitor the status of requests and follow -up until complete
  1. Project Coordination and Field Production:
  • Write and track RFI's
  • Create and maintain matrixes for scheduled, panel completion and installation
  • Perform quantity take-offs, obtain material and equipment costs and assist in pricing EWA's and changes in scope. Develop understanding of estimating concepts
  • Photo document job site conditions, especially damage.
  • Forward required submittals and documentation to the General Contractor and track results. Maintain field files
  • Work with the Project Superintendent, General Foreman and Art Director, as applicable, to become familiar with materials, means and methods of construction and progress of the job. Develop understanding of scheduling, processes and job management
  • Communicate with other Team members, suppliers, General Contractor and other subcontractors. Demonstrate awareness of issues
  • Track status and location of rental equipment.
  • Assist in sample submittal process, as required.
  • Track tool inventory and monitor the status of repairs, if necessary.
  1. Other Duties:
  • Assist in approval and coding of supplier and subcontractor invoices
  • Assist Project Manager in budgeting, cost management and cash flow management. Develop understanding of project financial management
  • Observe and gather overall knowledge of industry technology, project conditions, problem solving techniques, proactive management, etc., to promote confidence and leadership
  • Perform work in an organized and disciplined manner utilizing Company policies and procedures.

 

Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years experience in construction industry specific to drywall.
  • High school graduate required; college degree in Construction, Engineering or Business preferred.
  • Leadership skills, technical knowledge, financial ability and strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Understanding of utilization of construction estimating software; On Screen Takeoff/QB experience is a plus
  • Basic knowledge in reading and comprehension of plans, specifications, and all other relevant forms of Contract Documents.
  • Proficient in the utilization of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge in the utilization of Project Management Software such as ProCore and Autodesk Build.
  • Must own a reliable vehicle that can be used to travel from the Pillar office to assigned project sites.
  • Able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Able to handle and prioritize multiple assignments effectively.
  • Interface effectively, ethically and professionally with the client, with subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, and consultants, and with the Pillar Project Team and other internal clients.
