Job Summary
The Purchasing Agent is responsible for choosing the best suppliers, negotiating the best price, provides recommendations and industry analysis, contract scheduling and negotiations, and builds relationships with internal and external customers.
- Location: 1601 N Main Street, Morton, IL 61550
- Shift: 1st; 7 AM - 3:30 PM
- Pay Range: $50000-60000/yr

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Negotiate verbally, in-person and through electronic communication with vendors for the best price and delivery for each purchase including service agreements. Select top bidders and negotiate further reduction in pricing
- Present recommendations in excel listing comparative bids, potential cost savings and final determination
- Advance and maintain industry knowledge for all commodities including expected price increase/decrease and how that impacts the timing of our purchases and scheduling of our contract negotiations
- Resolves discrepancies with quality, quantity, pricing and overall accuracy of invoices
- Participates in meetings for the purpose of relating and gathering required information for projects, then analyzes data to ensure that quality and other company initiatives are met by researching, observing and/or examining items
- Help lead our Asset Management team.
Qualifications
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field (preferred)
- Experience
- 3-5 years working in a similar position
- Knowledge/Abilities
- Extensive knowledge of material handling equipment
- Knowledge of cranes, hoists, and similar equipment
- Negotiation, analytical, and organizational skills
- Written and oral communications skills
- Strong attention to accuracy and detail
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
