Casella Construction is looking for a hardworking and motivated Night Shift Diesel Mechanic to work our off hours shift of 4:00 PM to 1:30 AM, at our shop in Pittsford, VT. This position is eligible for a 10% shift differential pay. The Night Shift Diesel Mechanic is responsible for day-to-day equipment maintenance and minor to major repairs on our diverse fleet which consists of Mack triaxle dump trucks, Kenworth T880 Diesel and T800 Liquid Natural Gas tractors.

The Night Shift Diesel Mechanic would also be working on our trailers as well: live floor, dump and lowboy trailers. As the Shift Lead Mechanic, you will also be responsible for participating in a daily shift handover with our Shop Foreman at the start of your shift to understand the nightly priorities for your team. You will support the other 3 mechanics on the shift and ensure there is communication to both operations and the next maintenance shift regarding work performed during your shift. Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform repairs along with assigned preventive maintenance services on all fleet vehicles (Diesel and LNG tractors, trailers, and other related parts
  • Review and complete repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection reports
  • Complete all paperwork on fleet vehicles utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, parts usage and repair times
  • Training requirements, both in person and online, as needed or required

Qualifications:

  • Diesel engine repair work of 4 years preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Considerable knowledge in equipment maintenance and repair gained through formal training or on the job experience
  • Class A and or Class B CDL desirable
  • Must be able to handle major repairs
  • Experience with both tractor and trailer PMs and repairs.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge
  • Ability to safely lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to squat, bend and work in confined areas for extended periods of time
  • Must have own tools

Hourly Hiring Range: $20.00/hr. - $25.00/hr.

In recognition of the unique requirements of this position, a 10% Shift Differential is eligible for night hours worked.

This range reflects the base pay we reasonably expect to offer for this position at the time of posting, considering current market conditions and industry benchmarks.
