The Landscape Maintenance Estimator’s primary responsibilities are to produce and manage high quality landscape maintenance bids.

 

Essential Functions

  • Accurately and efficiently prepare bids and proposal submittals which include the following:
    • Analyze plans and specifications
    • Attend pre-bid and construction handoff meetings
    • Request current contracts and previous bid tabs on all bidding projects
    • Submit questions for clarification and to gain a competitive edge when possible
    • Monitor addendums and changes coming from all sources
    • Perform takeoffs in the field and utilize AutoCAD when construction plans are available or when estimating a pre-construction project
    • Utilize mapping software to assist in building takeoffs
    • Secure necessary bonds and other bid requirements
    • Create bid by assessing the project site and analyzing the labor, material and equipment needs required to complete the project
    • Review bid and proposal with field operator and estimating supervisor
  • Manage internal and external communications throughout the bid process
  • Compare and contrast current bid to existing bids of similar nature and scope
  • When applicable, negotiate and/or coordinate pricing with vendors or sub-contractors
  • Submit accurate bids in a timely and effective manner, always meeting deadlines of the requesting party
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and communicating with both field operators and business This will also include knowledge of the various types of equipment and materials that may be used either routinely or in special circumstances as directed by job specifications
  • Post Bid
    • Request bid results and submit public records requests for bids submitted
    • Research competing company bids to ensure they possess all required licenses and that all required documentation has been submitted with their bid
    • Document bid pipeline and results in the RCI This includes both the Div. 80 bid log and the Business Development bid log
    • Execute Contract and submit to the Contract Administrator
    • Assist with the compiling of production files that will be provided to Ops for rendering of services
    • Complete the handoff meeting to ensure knowledge of the project is shared with key stakeholders
  • Other duties as assigned

Education:

  • Required:
    • Highschool Diploma, GED or Equivalent
  • Preferred:
    • 3-5 years in the landscape field preferably with extensive commercial estimating experience
    • Associate degree (or other 2-year degree)
    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • Some College Courses
    • Post-Secondary Certificate - awarded for training completed after high school (for example, in Personnel Services, Engineering-related Technologies, Vocational Home Economics, Construction Trades, Mechanics and Repairers, Precision Production Trades)

 

Supervisory Responsibility

  • This position has no supervisory

 

Work Environment

  • This job operates in both a professional office environment and out at properties for site visits and estimate take offs.
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and For property visits, this role will use a measure wheel, tape measure and other tools to measure property and landscape markers.
  • Some projects might require travel across the Southeastern states which means there will also be some out-of-town work from time to time for site visits, pre-bid meetings, etc.

 

Job Type:

  • Full-time. Hours of Operation are Monday through Friday, 8:00 m. to 5:00 p.m.
