We are seeking a skilled Controls Technician to support the installation, commissioning, and service of commercial and industrial automation systems. They must have a strong electrical background and hands-on field experience and excel at troubleshooting complex DDC systems. They will work as part of a specialized team to ensure high-performance building operations across the Mobile Bay area.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, terminate, and test intricate control wiring for sensors, actuators, and localized panels.
- Commission and troubleshoot Building Automation Systems (BAS) and Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems.
- Load and modify control programs under the strategic direction of senior engineering staff.
- Verify and document system operations, providing detailed testing results for project closeouts.
- Diagnose and resolve complex electrical or communication-bus issues directly in the field.
- Read and interpret technical wiring diagrams, control drawings, and sequences of operation.
- Calibrate various control devices to ensure long-term system accuracy and reliability.
- Complete detailed service reports and maintain strict adherence to site safety compliance.
- Support the integration of third-party equipment into the primary building management system.
- Identify opportunities for system optimization and report findings to the project management team.
- Manage on-site logistics for service calls, including parts inventory and tool maintenance.
- Provide high-level customer service by communicating technical resolutions clearly to facility managers.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 3–5 years in building automation, HVAC controls, or electrical systems.
- Strong understanding of DDC controls and low-voltage wiring protocols.
- Proficiency with precision test instruments and diagnostic tools.
- Ability to interpret electrical prints and complex control sequences.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Familiarity with Tridium Niagara, Schneider Electric, or similar BAS platforms. (Preferred)
- Tridium Niagara N4 certification is a significant plus. (Preferred)
- Experience with BACnet, Modbus, or LON communication protocols. (Preferred)
- Prior experience in HVAC service, commissioning, or networking/IP systems. (Preferred)
