Talent Acquisition Specialist


The Talent Acquisition Specialist is responsible for leading full-cycle recruiting efforts at The Wesson Group, with a dedicated focus on identifying, attracting, assessing, and securing top talent that aligns with both our technical needs and our company culture.

 

In this role, the Talent Acquisition Specialist serves as a strategic talent partner to hiring managers and leadership, making informed judgment calls regarding candidate qualification, culture alignment, and overall fit. This position plays an active role throughout the interview process, including participation in final interviews and providing clear hiring recommendations.

 

Salary: $70,000-$85,000 + bonus

Location: Remote + 1 day in office in Johnstown, NY

Reports to: HR Director

 

Responsibilities:

  • Own and manage full-cycle recruiting for assigned roles across the organization, with a primary focus on construction, renewable energy, field operations, and corporate positions.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for candidates throughout the recruiting lifecycle, delivering a professional and engaging candidate experience.
  • Conduct thorough resume reviews and initial phone/video screenings to evaluate qualifications, experience, and alignment with TWG’s values and culture.
  • Make independent, professional judgment calls regarding candidate fit and readiness to advance in the hiring process.
  • Partner closely with hiring managers to understand workforce needs, role requirements, and team dynamics, and translate those needs into effective recruiting strategies.
  • Develop and maintain job postings, sourcing strategies, and talent pipelines using job boards, referrals, networking, and direct sourcing methods.
  • Facilitate and coordinate interviews, including panel and final interviews, and actively participate in final-stage interviews as a TWG representative.
  • Provide clear, well-supported hiring recommendations to hiring managers and leadership based on qualifications, interview performance, and culture alignment.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant recruiting documentation within the applicant tracking system.
  • Track and report on recruiting metrics such as time-to-fill, candidate pipelines, and hiring outcomes.
  • Represent TWG professionally in the external talent market, strengthening our employer brand through consistent messaging and positive candidate interactions.
  • Stay informed on industry hiring trends, labor market conditions, and competitive recruiting practices relevant to construction and renewable energy.
  • Ensure recruiting practices are consistent, equitable, and compliant with applicable employment laws and company standards.
  • Assistance with HR projects and initiatives

 

Qualifications:

  • Candidate must live within commutable distance from the main office in Johnstown, NY.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant recruiting experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in talent acquisition or recruiting, preferably within construction, skilled trades, engineering, renewable energy, or similar industries.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently assess candidate qualifications and culture fit and make sound hiring recommendations.
  • Strong interviewing, screening, and relationship‑building skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with candidates, hiring managers, and leadership at all levels of the organization.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple requisitions and priorities simultaneously.
  • Comfortable exercising professional judgment and accountability in hiring decisions.
  • Proficient with applicant tracking systems and recruiting platforms; experience with data tracking and reporting.
  • Must be detail‑oriented, adaptable, and able to work autonomously while collaborating closely with internal partners.
  • Maintain a valid Driver’s License and a good driving record.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for interviews, job fairs, or hiring events as needed.
