Position Summary
The Construction Recruiter supports Midwest Drywall's talent acquisition efforts by identifying, attracting, and hiring qualified candidates for field and office positions. Reporting to the Talent Acquisition Manager, this role provides full-cycle recruiting support, candidate sourcing, interview coordination, hiring-manager communication, recruiting-event support, internship coordination, and candidate pipeline development. The role represents Midwest Drywall professionally with candidates, schools, workforce partners, community organizations, field leaders, and hiring managers while helping strengthen the company's long-term talent pipeline.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support recruiting for field positions, including drywall mechanics, metal framers, laborers, finishers, apprentices, and other skilled trades.
  • Support recruiting for office and professional positions, including Project Engineers, Assistant Project Managers, Estimators, and other roles as assigned.
  • Source qualified candidates through job boards, employee referrals, networking, trade organizations, community outreach, technical schools, colleges, workforce-development partners, and military-transition programs.
  • Conduct initial phone screens, coordinate interviews with hiring managers, and maintain timely candidate communication throughout the hiring process.
  • Build and maintain candidate pipelines in the applicant tracking system and proactively develop talent pools for current and future hiring needs.
  • Travel to divisional offices, project locations, career fairs, hiring events, trade schools, colleges, and community recruiting events to support local hiring efforts and relationships.
  • Build working relationships with hiring managers, field leadership, schools, workforce agencies, trade organizations, and community partners.
  • Coordinate pre-employment steps such as interview scheduling, offer support, onboarding coordination, background screening, drug testing, and new hire documentation.
  • Coordinate and support the company's internship program, including scheduling, communication, onboarding, engagement activities, and progress tracking.
  • Assist with recruiting metrics, activity tracking, reporting, talent acquisition projects, and administrative Human Resources support as needed.
  • Follow Midwest Drywall policies, recruiting procedures, employment laws, confidentiality expectations, and applicable regulations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. The Construction Recruiter collaborates with hiring managers, field leadership, Human Resources, and company leadership to support hiring initiatives, workforce planning, and candidate experience.

Qualifications

Required

  • 0-3 years of experience in recruiting, human resources, customer service, sales, staffing, outreach, or a related relationship-focused field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, follow-up, and customer-service skills.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, time management, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability and willingness to travel, including increased travel during peak recruiting seasons or key hiring initiatives.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Preferred

  • Experience recruiting in construction, skilled trades, manufacturing, industrial, staffing, or another field-based environment.
  • Experience using an applicant tracking system, recruiting database, job boards, social media, or sourcing tools.
  • Experience with campus recruiting, internships, trade-school outreach, workforce-development partnerships, or community hiring events.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills are a plus.

Education and Experience

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Experience supporting multiple hiring managers, recruiting for multiple locations, or balancing both field and office hiring is preferred.

Licenses, Certifications, and Training

  • Valid driver's license required.
  • SHRM-CP, PHR, AIRS, LinkedIn Recruiter Certification, or other recruiting certification is preferred but not required.
  • Complete assigned Midwest Drywall orientation, recruiting, ATS, interviewing, safety, data privacy, and anti-discrimination training.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of recruiting best practices, candidate sourcing techniques, interview coordination, and candidate relationship management.
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with candidates, hiring managers, field leadership, schools, workforce partners, and community organizations.
  • Ability to represent Midwest Drywall professionally at recruiting events, on jobsites, and in the community.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn and maintain accurate records in an applicant tracking system.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, work independently, and contribute to a collaborative HR team.
  • Comfortable working in office, recruiting-event, travel, and construction-field environments while following safety requirements.

Work Environment

This position operates primarily in a professional office environment with frequent travel to Midwest Drywall offices, construction jobsites, career fairs, trade schools, colleges, military transition programs, and community recruiting events. The role requires regular interaction with field employees and may involve exposure to active construction environments while following required safety procedures and PPE requirements.

Compensation and Benefits
Final pay is subject to approval and may vary based on directly relevant payroll, construction payroll, union reporting, certified payroll, prevailing wage, payroll tax, systems, audit, and compliance experience; credentials; and internal equity.
