OBJECTIVE: The Data Analyst is a multidisciplinary role supporting AgOutcomes’s farmer contracting, customer reporting, product, and data operations. The position will generate and utilize data solutions to manage and track farmer applications and contracts for the Soil and Water Outcomes Fund (SWOF), produce sustainability reports for SWOF partners, and improve management and analysis of SWOF sustainability data for farmers and partners. This position works closely with leadership and field staff to manage farmer applications through the enrollment and contracting process and report outcomes to corporate partners while maintaining accurate and timely information within data platforms, workflow systems, and tracking tools.
The Data Analyst will monitor enrollment progress against project goals and key performance indicators, identify potential enrollment or contracting gaps, and provide accurate reporting to support project management and decision-making. Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, comfort working with complex agricultural and program data, demonstrated experience using data platforms and workflow/tracking systems, and the ability to collaborate effectively across a team. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in ambiguity, learns new tools quickly, and enjoys building practical, user-centered solutions that help the organization work smarter.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Manage and track farmer contracts throughout the SWOF enrollment and contracting process, ensuring records are complete, accurate, and progressed through required workflow stages in a timely manner.
- Review farmer, farm, field, acreage, cropping, and conservation practice information to determine eligibility and assign applications and contracts to the appropriate SWOF project, funding source, or partner.
- Produce bi-annual project reports for SWOF corporate partners.
- Create ad hoc reports to inform business decisions and improve internal processes.
- Monitor farmer contract status to diagnose and take action necessary to complete contract with signatures.
- Coordinate with staff to resolve missing information, eligibility questions, contract issues, and other items that may delay enrollment.
- Ensure farmer W9s and direct deposit information are collected and accurate.
- Track enrollment progress against project-specific goals and requirements, including acres, geography, cropping systems, conservation practices, environmental outcomes, and other applicable project KPIs.
- Identify opportunities to improve farmer contracting, project assignment, and reporting workflows through process improvements, automation, and technology solutions.
- Maintain organized documentation of contracting procedures, project eligibility requirements, workflow processes, and data management practices.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, business, finance, data management, project management, statistics, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
- 1-2 years of experience in data analysis or related fields preferred.
- Experience using advanced Microsoft Excel data analysis tools and formulas.
- Familiarity and experience using data platforms, workflow management systems, databases, or other tracking and reporting tools is required.
- Experience working with large or complex datasets and maintaining accurate records across multiple projects or programs.
- Ability to quickly learn new software platforms and understand relationships among data maintained across multiple systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, evolving work environment.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Knowledge of agricultural production systems, including farms, fields, crop rotations, and conservation practices.
- Professional experience managing contracts, applications, customer records, projects, or similar workflow-driven processes.
- Experience with R, Python, or SQL.
- Experience with GIS software.
- Experience working with workflow management software systems (e.g., Trello, Planner).
