Summary
Constructors is hiring a Heavy Equipment Shop Foreman to be a leader in maintenance operations. This foreman is not only a person who decides which mechanic fixes which machine, they will a custodian of the entire shop department. Their mission will be to build and lead a world-class heavy-equipment maintenance shop based on integrity, accountability, disciplined shop controls, technical excellence and continuous improvement. Nothing gets lost. Nothing gets hidden. Nothing gets worked on without accountability.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities involve control and oversight over the following:
- Every piece of equipment entering and leaving the shop
- Work-order creation and closure
- Technician labor charged to each unit
- Parts issued to each repair
- Outside repair/vendor authorization
- Purchase approvals
- Warranty recovery
- Preventive maintenance compliance
- Repair quality and comeback work
- Repair-versus-replace recommendations
- Equipment downtime
- Shop tooling
- Parts inventory
- Housekeeping and organization
- Safety practices
- Technician productivity
- Training and development
- Documentation and repair history
Must abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.
Education and/or Experience:
- Technical degree or certification in heavy equipment, diesel technology, or related program; and
- 5 years of experience in shop operations, equipment management, and leadership; or
- equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable under company insurance.
- Commercial Driver's License helpful but not required.
Other Skills & Abilities:
- Must have knowledge of heavy equipment and on-highway trucks.
- Must have knowledge of construction safety and requirements.
- Must be flexible regarding work assignments.
- Must demonstrate willingness to perform other support duties during non busy times.
- Must provide own tools of the trade.
- Must be able to work within fast paced shop/office and field environment.
- Must be willing and able to interact professionally with all levels of management while simultaneously managing a diversified workload and challenging situations efficiently and effectively.
- Must be able to operate with minimal supervision, be a trouble shooter and take initiative to investigate and resolve problems.
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees and others individually or in a team environment
