Paint Shop Helper (Commercial Painting)
About the Role
Shickel Corporation is a custom ornamental metal fabrication and installation company looking for a Paint Helper to support our commercial painting team. You'll prep material for coating through grit blasting and power washing, keep painters supplied, and move material through the shop. This is a good fit for someone who likes hands-on work and wants to learn industrial coating.
What You'll Do
- Prep surfaces for coating by grit blasting and power washing
- Set up, operate, and clean the grit blast booth and glass bead blaster
- Supply painters with materials, tools, and spray equipment, including installing spray gun nozzles
- Rack parts on the conveyor, move painted pieces to and from drying areas, and inspect and mark finished work for shipping or stock
- Move material using forklifts, overhead cranes, hoists, and yard vehicles
- Set up ladders and scaffolding as needed
- Keep your work area clean and follow all safety procedures
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or GED, or 3–6 months of related experience
- Forklift experience preferred
- Able to read and follow safety rules and written instructions
- Comfortable with basic math and measurements, and basic computer data entry
- Able to pass a medical clearance and fit test to wear a supplied-air respirator
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Frequently lift 50lbs (up to 100lbs assisted)
- Frequent climbing, bending, and working overhead, underneath, and around parts
- Exposure to fumes, dust, moving machinery, chemicals, and occasionally outdoor weather
- Loud environment; hearing protection required in designated areas
- All PPE provided
