The salary for this position is $120,000 - $130,000+ annually. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role.

About the Role 

The Distribution Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and successfully delivering utility distribution construction projects. This role manages project scope, schedules, budgets, resources, subcontractors, and client relationships while ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company and customer requirements. The Distribution Project Manager serves as the primary liaison between operations, construction teams, engineering, customers, and leadership to drive successful project outcomes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee multiple distribution construction projects from initiation through closeout.
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, schedules, and profitability.
  • Coordinate project resources, subcontractors, vendors, materials, and equipment.
  • Lead project planning meetings and ongoing progress reviews.
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure adherence to scope, quality, and safety standards.
  • Track project milestones and proactively resolve issues affecting schedule, budget, or performance.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers and key stakeholders.
  • Review contracts, project scope documents, work orders, and change orders.
  • Prepare and present project status updates to customers and company leadership.
  • Collaborate with operations, field supervision, engineering, estimating, and business support teams.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, customer requirements, and company safety policies.
  • Manage project documentation, reporting, invoicing, and project closeout activities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and project execution processes.
  • Support business development efforts through customer engagement and proposal reviews.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of project management experience in utility construction, infrastructure, telecommunications, power delivery, underground utilities, or related industries.
  • Demonstrated experience managing project budgets, schedules, and customer expectations.
  • Experience overseeing multiple concurrent projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction practices and project delivery methods.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Project.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Experience supporting electric distribution, gas distribution, telecommunications, or underground utility projects.
  • Experience managing self-performing and subcontractor workforces.
  • Knowledge of project scheduling and cost control methodologies.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, customer-focused construction environment.

Working Conditions

  • Exposure to active construction environments require appropriate PPE.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, and navigate construction sites.
  • Ability to occasionally lift to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work in varying weather and field conditions as necessary.
