King Asphalt, Inc. | Full-time | Greenville, SC

The equipment behind every successful paving job needs a team that is ready before the crew arrives. King Asphalt is seeking an Equipment Manager to lead fleet maintenance, support our people, and help keep equipment safe and dependable across our operating region.

This is a hands-on leadership role with ownership of maintenance priorities, equipment availability, costs, vendors, and long-term fleet planning. You’ll work closely with operations and safety leaders to get the right equipment to the right job—and help technicians and shop leaders do their best work.

What you’ll lead

  • Set clear safety and maintenance standards for shops, yards, field service, and equipment deployment.
  • Plan preventive maintenance, prioritize repairs, and reduce downtime and repeat failures.
  • Partner with operations on equipment assignments, transfers, rentals, and utilization.
  • Manage maintenance budgets and vendor performance, guide repair, replacement, and capital planning decisions.
  • Coach team members, strengthen shop processes, and use fleet data to turn recurring problems into lasting improvements.

What you bring

  • Seven or more years of progressive experience in heavy equipment, fleet maintenance, shops, or operations, including at least three years leading people, programs, or vendors. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of heavy construction equipment, maintenance planning, troubleshooting, and safe shop and field practices.
  • Experience managing costs, working with vendors, and making sound repair and replacement decisions.
  • The ability to build trust with technicians, operators, and leaders while setting priorities and following through.
  • Comfort using maintenance systems, telematics, and operational data to make practical decisions.

Experience in asphalt, roadbuilding, aggregates, or heavy civil construction is especially valuable. This role involves regular travel to shops, plants, jobsites, and vendors, with occasional after-hours response to critical equipment issues.

Build what’s next

At King Asphalt, you’ll have the opportunity to make a measurable difference in safety, fleet readiness, and the development of your team. This role also offers a potential path toward regional fleet or broader operations leadership as your impact grows. Advancement depends on performance, business needs, and available opportunities.

King Asphalt offers medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) with company match, paid time off, and opportunities for training and career development.
