Position Summary
S&D is seeking an experienced Quality Control Coordinator to oversee quality control for mechanical prefabricated piping and fabricated assemblies produced by the Fabrication Services department.
The Quality Control Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that fabricated piping, spools, assemblies, supports, and related components leaving the shop meet the customer's approved drawings, specifications, applicable codes, purchase-order requirements, and S&D quality standards.
This position serves as the independent final quality authority for Fabrication Services. The Quality Control Coordinator is responsible for identifying quality issues before material leaves the facility and has the authority to place work or shipments on QC hold when requirements have not been satisfied.
The Quality Control Coordinator will work closely with Fabrication Services Manager;
Weld Manager/Super(s), QC/production team; the Fabrication Project Coordinator, customers; and third-party inspectors to ensure quality requirements are understood before fabrication begins and remain controlled through final shipment.
The position requires someone who understands that quality begins at job kickoff and material receiving, not simply at final inspection.
