Ready to move from the field into project management?
Network Cabling Services (NCS) is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join our Houston Security Operations team.
This is not a purely administrative project coordinator position. You will work alongside experienced Project Managers and field teams while gaining hands-on experience planning and executing commercial and enterprise security projects.
Our goal is to develop someone who can ultimately independently manage projects and customer relationships as an NCS Project Manager.
What You'll Work On
NCS delivers security solutions involving:
- Access Control
- Video Surveillance / CCTV
- Intrusion Detection
- Perimeter Detection
Our customers include industrial facilities, warehouses, ports, airports, data centers, hospitals, commercial offices, universities, and K-12 schools.
What You'll Do
- Support Project Managers with project planning and execution.
- Participate in project kickoffs, customer meetings, and jobsite coordination.
- Visit jobsites to monitor progress, quality, readiness, and potential issues.
- Coordinate manpower, materials, schedules, access, and project resources.
- Communicate with technicians, field leaders, customers, and contractors.
- Identify risks, delays, scope issues, and potential change conditions early.
- Assist with material planning, project documentation, as-builts, and closeout.
- Support field execution and provide coaching to field personnel when needed.
- Learn how project decisions affect schedule, quality, cost, and overall project performance.
Who We're Looking For
This opportunity may be a strong fit if you are currently a:
- Security Systems Technician or Lead Technician
- Low-Voltage Lead or Foreman
- Field Supervisor
- Project Coordinator
- Assistant Project Manager
- Construction professional ready to move into project management
We are looking for candidates with 3+ years of relevant industry experience, a strong understanding of construction or field operations, good communication skills, strong follow-through, and the desire to take on more responsibility.
Prior security systems experience is strongly preferred, but we will consider strong candidates from related low-voltage, telecommunications, electrical, or construction backgrounds.
Build a Career in Project Management
This role is designed to provide progressively greater responsibility as your knowledge, judgment, and leadership skills develop.
The goal is not to remain an Assistant Project Manager indefinitely.
The goal is to develop into someone NCS can trust to independently lead projects, field teams, and customer relationships as a Project Manager.
If you have developed a strong foundation in the field and are ready for the next step in your career, we would like to talk with you.
