We are currently seeking several positions to join our growing business in Albany, New York; The Energy Project/Construction Manager builds and manages the construction of our projects for our customers. They work with suppliers, our engineers and the AEC team, to ensure successful completion and closeout of the projects designed. These projects generally include retrofit of buildings, but may include new construction as well.

Job Description:

The Project Manager oversees all aspects of the construction of our projects for clients. The Project Manager is responsible for coordination and completion of the project and will perform a variety of tasks including setting deadlines, purchasing, and managing team players and subcontractors. The Project Manager is generally responsible for more than one project at a time. The Project Manager must have construction or buildings knowledge, as they are managing sub-contractors and many aspects of construction or implementation while representing AEC in a professional manner.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate sub-contractors, team members, suppliers and 3rd parties.
  • Responsible for maintaining the project and have ownership of the budget.
  • Read and interpret project and equipment specifications and plans.
  • Assist in conducting site surveys and gathering estimates.
  • Identify buildings needs and general construction or maintenance needs.
  • Responsible for planning the project in order to accomplish its goals or produce the products required within constraints such as time, cost and agreed quality standards.
  • Must continuously monitor progress, budget and status of the projects and report to management and the client as required.
  • Organizing and managing status meetings.
  • Identify, log, and manage potential and actual construction issues and risks.
  • Must be courteous and polite in written and oral communication, and be able to get ideas across in a non-confrontational manner in one-to-one situations, and small groups.
  • The Project Manager will identify the need for project resources.
  • Work directly with the team members or with their team leaders.
  • Must be able to create and use Gantt charts, spreadsheets or other appropriate tools to manage people and tasks and keep up-to-date.
  • Responsible for bringing the project to a close, which may include creating an end of project report or evaluation document, holding ‘sunset’ meetings and activities, and capturing and using relevant lessons learned.
  • The Project Manager may need to create a structure for project documentation and remain conscientious in using it and ensuring that the rest of the team understands and uses it.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in project/construction or maintenance management.
  • Work preference for a fast-paced customer-centered work environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet project deadlines.
  • Excellent computer skills with Microsoft products and other business applications such as Visio and AutoCAD.
  • Helpful Experiences:
  • Electrical knowledge beneficial.
  • HVAC or other mechanical work beneficial
  • General Construction knowledge or experience beneficial
  • Energy relevant experience beneficial
  • Other Energy experiences or technologies are helpful but not required: CHP, Datacenters, etc.
