General Purpose
The Human Resource Intern is responsible for the administration and assistance of HR responsibilities throughout the department, including hiring, onboarding, benefits, training, and other duties as assigned.
Duties
- Assist with the preparing and administration of hiring trade personnel. Including reviewing applicants, conducting interviews, and hiring personnel.
- Complete the processing of employment-related transactions, including verifying completeness of documents and maintenance of electronic personnel files.
- Assist HR Coordinator and Manager with new hire orientation, pre-onboarding activities, completing employment verification activities,
- Union correspondence including referrals, letters of intent, etc.
- Compile and maintain EEO data on applicants and new hires. Maintain Affirmative Action compliance.
- Support HR Department with any monthly reporting as required.
- Assist in preparing onboarding materials for new personnel.
- Assist in completion of industry surveys and Verifications of Employment.
- Track pre-employment testing including drug testing, BAT’s, and physicals (if required) for all personnel.
- Gather supplies for required state and federal jobsite postings, including company specific postings.
- Help with the administration of service awards.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications, & Experience
- Entry level professional position.
- Highly administrative in nature.
- Basic knowledge of personnel functions & procedures, EEO regulations, employment practices, etc. helpful.
- Position requires interface with corporate management, employee groups, external agencies—written and verbal communication required.
- Strong emphasis on customer service.
