The Job
We are looking for a full time Switchboard Operator to direct calls, take messages and complete some general clerical responsibilities greet in professional, friendly, caring manner. The Switchboard Operator position is located in our Des Moines, IA Penn Ave location and will be scheduled to work Monday through Friday from 8-4:30. (flexible to start at 7:30 when needed)

You Will:
- Answer incoming calls, greeting callers, providing information, transferring calls or taking messages as necessary.
- Operate communication systems, such as telephone and switchboard.
- Page individuals to inform them of telephone calls, using paging or interoffice communication equipment.
- Relay or route written or verbal messages.
- Place telephone calls or arrange conference calls as instructed.
- Perform various data entry or word processing tasks, such as updating phone directories, typing or proofreading
- documents, or creating schedules. Help transcription with radiographs and faxing.
Process incoming or outgoing mail, packages, or deliveries.
- Perform administrative tasks, such as accepting orders, scheduling appointments or meeting rooms, or sending and receiving faxes.
- Record messages, suggesting rewording for clarity or conciseness.
Requirements:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 6 months experience in a call center environment or on a switchboard or a multi-line phone system, preferably in a health care institution.
- Candidate must be professional, dependable and able to work independently.
- General knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- Strong dedication to quality customer service
- Computer skills and previous EMR experience preferred.
- Superior telephone etiquette.
- Ability to multi-task in a high volume environment.
