Job Summary
As a CNC Programmer your primary task will be programming parts and tools from customer provided models or drawings or internally created models or drawings. You will be responsible for the creation and revision of CNC programs for various multi-axis, horizontal and vertical machines, mills and equipment, as well as supporting current production and prototype projects while maintaining quality and safety standards. The global goal for this role will be to support our corporate commitment to improve all products and processes through prevention rather than detection.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Write programs and modify existing ones for increased efficiency.
- Utilize drawings or CAD models to support program development.
- Utilize CAM software to produce programs.
- Make calculations for programming.
- Create, document and back-up all programs. Update set-up sheets and tool lists as required.
- Check completed programs by running simulations or tests.
- Prepare geometric layout of designs using proper software.
- Determine sequence of operations in a program.
- Confer with appropriate engineering personnel in preparing and finalizing programs.
- Choose cutting tools that will be needed.
- Analyze job order and performs necessary calculations.
- Simplify tooling time for workers and increases productivity.
- Monitor all programs to make sure they follow blueprint instructions and safely and successfully complete the task
- Assure quality and production requirements are met, as per travelers and blueprints, etc.
- Participate in total quality management projects to achieve continuous improvement.
- Participate in LEAN manufacturing and SPC activities as required.
- Report any equipment or facility defect(s) to supervisor.
- Comply with all APP, Inc. safety rules and company policies.
- Ensure any accident or injury is promptly reported.
- Wear proper Personal Protection Equipment in work area at all time
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience
- Associates degree, technical degree and/or combination of education and equivalent work experience.
- Forging experience.
- 3-5 years of on the job experience programming and machining on Fanuc, Haas, Okuma OSP and Cincinnati controls.
- Knowledgeable in master cam and vericut software.
- Must have knowledge of Renishaw spindle probing and the use of macros.
- Experience using CNC programming software(Mastercam, CATIA)
- Understanding of part tolerances.
- Mechanical ability and understanding of engineering principles
- Ability to read aerospace blueprint/technical drawings.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
- Basic English (reading, writing, verbal and comprehend)
- Ability to communicate with co-workers, supervisor, and QC personnel
- Basic to intermediate shop math
- Ability to use and read measuring tool and devices as necessary for inspection of machined parts.
- Able to work in a demanding fast paced environment.
- Experience recognizing mechanical dysfunctions.
- Work with little or no supervision throughout shift.
- Should be able to work in any shift.
- Must be able to work occasional overtime to meet operational deadlines.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience
- CNC Programming Certificate from accredited tech/trade school helpful.
- 3,4,& 5 axis preferred
- Forging experience a plus
- Aerospace parts manufacturing experience.
- AS9000 and ISO9001 work environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS /Work Environment
This job will be performed in a Manufacturing Environment.
Physical – Must be able to manipulate parts weighing up to 30 lbs.
