MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of college or seminary and ordained by the Presbyterian church
- Minimum of five years chaplain or pastoral experience. Experience working with elderly a plus
- Skilled in counseling and preaching
- Ability to conduct worship services
- Ability to relate to persons in various physical, mental, or emotional conditions
- Ability to relate to persons with varying ethnic and religious backgrounds
- Ability to perform Essential Duties as outlined below
- Genuine caring for and interest in the care of mature adults, handicapped people and hospice Patients
- Ability to perform work tasks within the Physical Demand Requirements as outlined below
- Ability to comply with the Resident Bill of Rights and the Employee Responsibilities
- Ability to comply with organizational and departmental safety policies and procedures
WORK ENVIRONMENT: CCRC, primarily indoor with occasional off-site excursions and outside activities
WORK PACE: Self-paced, often demanding
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Model a service and solutions oriented attitude towards others, takes ownership in solving problems and takes the initiative to make things better, is friendly and courteous to residents, patients, visitors, and co-workers
- Ensure resident, patient, visitor, and co-worker safety by remaining aware of and reporting any new or existing safety hazards
- Maintain good attendance record
- Recruit, hire train, coach, and evaluate departmental staff
- Responsible for the planning and administration of the departmental budget
- Visit residents upon admission to introduce self and the pastoral services available
- Provide spiritual guidance and counseling to residents, families, and staff
- Respond to after-hours calls if necessary. Set up backup system for support
- Lead worship services
- Lead funeral services if assistance is requested
- Lead memorial services if requested
- Develop and lead pastoral programs based on individual and organizational needs
- Initiate and maintain communication with other churches who have congregational members at the campus through notification of admission, discharge, transfer, or death of resident members
- Serve as a spokesperson for the campus to Grace Presbytery of The Presbyterian Church (USA) to provide ongoing understanding and nurture of the relationship and covenant which exists between the two entities
