Job Summary

The Logistics Load Planner works closely with Customer Service to effectively create and plan loads to optimize asset utilization and minimize costs related to out-of-route miles, non-revenue movement, and per diem charges. Additionally, this position will serve as the main point of contact for drivers and proactively monitor the key metric for On Time Performance to ensure the freight schedule is executed as planned.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure integrity of data within the Transportation Management System (TMS)
  • Monitor driver messaging system and enter freight bill data in real-time
  • Plan and report on operational capacity; assign loads to drivers, optimize routes to minimize costs and maximize efficiency, adjust for last-minute changes
  • Communicate any changes with customer service and drivers as they occur
  • Assign power units to unseated drivers
  • Provide prompt and timely resolution to driver and customer inquiries
  • Review driver status to avoid idle time whenever possible
  • Perform other duties as needed to reach operational goals

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED Equivalent required
  • At least two (2) years of prior experience in a load planning or dispatching role
  • Knowledge of Transportation / Logistics industry
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency with computers - Microsoft Office, Database Tools, Transportation Management System(s), Email, Etc.
  • Positive, dependable, team-driven attitude
