Job Summary
The driver supervisor is responsible for directly managing all drivers in their defined scope. They are accountable for supervising the training of all new and current drivers to fulfill their job duties. They provide daily oversight of Driver fleet with regard to performance and safety. The driver supervisor is also responsible for communicating and collaborating with various other groups to ensure G&D is meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Day to day management of drivers including but not limited to : Work Schedules, Operational Performance, Safety policies, Training, Paperwork procedures, truck assignments, and time off requests
- Routinely inspect and monitor equipment for condition, cleanliness, and maintenance of fluid levels. Monitor drivers MPG performance, Over-speed reports, Logs, DVIR, and maintenance requests.
- Work with dispatch and planning to develop measurement standards that can be applied to all drivers. Manage reporting and monitor daily, weekly, and monthly driver performance against established standards for performance. Perform coaching sessions and ride-a-longs with drivers failing to meet established standards of performance in all areas.
- Coordinate with shop personnel to ensure we have power equipment allocated to the correct driver and usage according to operation cost per mile to drive down overall operating cost per mile.
Qualifications
-Education
- High School Diploma, Associates or Bachelor’s preferred
- Related Experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in one or more of the following fields: Logistics, Transportation. Class A or B CDL experience preferred. Previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Knowledge of transportation, DOT rules and regulations, and FMCSA, standard transportation industry practices and procedures. Excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office applications i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Experience with Truckmate and/or other TMS application preferred.
