Fire Protection Inspections Manager

This position is responsible for planning and directing the accomplishment of department objectives, as well as performs a wide variety of duties required to maintain the efficient, day to day operations of a department within a specific branch office.  The Inspections Manager must be a self-starter possessing time management, scheduling, sales, staff management and leadership skills and experience.  This position will be based out of the Tucson office, and will report directly to the Area Manager based in Phoenix.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead the Division’s Inspections Department in a professional manner; always looking out for the best interest of the Company
  • Honor all schedules and commitments
  • Hire inspection and sales personal to build a successful division
  • Provide mentorship and training to divisional team members
  • Lead by example
  • Hire and present quality industry professionals to customers
  • Create department budgets, and manage them to maintain costs and profitability
  • Create an environment of high professionalism, integrity, honesty, quality and success
  • Work closely with the service and alarm managers to create accurate deficiency proposals for work
  • Assist the Service and Alarm sales persons to ensure deficiencies are quoted in a timely manner
  • Seek out new customers
  • Build new customer relationships while nurturing old relationships
  • Maintain an orderly departmental environment, including making sure the service team members are maintaining departmental records and file systems in accordance with the divisional directives
  • Work with the office and shop employees to maintain the correct quantities of printed materials and mechanical materials for inspection work
  • Inspect service trucks weekly for cleanliness and contraband
  • Inspect all tools and safety equipment 2x annually and be sure all equipment is maintained and is in safe working condition
  • Perform employee performance reviews in accordance with company policy
  • Help create individual and team goals for service team members
  • Perform special projects or other duties as assigned
  • Promote a team environment and work directly with the Phoenix branch inspection team.
  • Utilize the Phoenix inspection team to help fill voids and schedules when busy.
  • Train and retain the right employees to build a successful division.
  • Obtain a NICET II in Inspections and Testing within 1 year of employment.
  • Travel to job sites to perform QA/QC and safety audits.

Job Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of the Fire Protection Industry- 10 plus years in the industry serving multiple roles as a fire sprinkler pipe fitter, inspector, service management and/or a sales role
  • Solid working knowledge of NFPA pamphlets 101, 25, 10, 13, 13R, 14, 20 and 24
  • Ability to read and understand construction documents including bid forms, plans, specification, contracts, purchase orders and agreements
  • Familiarity with fire sprinkler hydraulic calculations
  • Proven analytical thinking and problem solving skills
  • A history of success in growing a market share and meeting sales goals
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook software programs
  • Customer focused interpersonal skills and proven ability to build long term customer relationships
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to travel; including overnight stays
  • Willing to pass a post-offer drug test, background and reference check
